  Making some part of the SW open could allow user to get marker support, HDR and 2-axis rotary support. 3d scanning market is getting more and more competition with falling prices and having open source could be strong differenciator to other vendor. Making SW open source or allow users to develop own plugins to add additional features would be really great idea.
