Yep, that's what I've been doing as a workaround for now, but leaves the surface looking like cornflakes. That's one of the few things I do miss about Artec Studio. They had a really decent remeshi...

Right now, my top request is an option for a remeshing algorithm that doesn't automatically fill holes. I recognize the way that the Poisson screen method works, it's not really an option, but if y...
@Trevor Townsend Yup, Toolbag has a bunch of high quality triplanar materials that I used over the scans. Only the circuit board is using the scanned textures as I was able to capture it without ne...
I've made a lot of progress on this over the past week. I scanned the motor housing and also started adding wiring using curves in Blender.
I rescanned the battery to try and capture a bit more fidelity. I had some help from Trevor while I was having some alignment issues, and I think it came out pretty well! I'm especially happy about...
Some fun translucent plastic renders out of Marmoset Toolbag. Gotta finish the rest of this scan, because I'm a big fan of this look.
@Trevor Townsend I put the scanner through its paces over the weekend with the test build and did not have this show up once. I'd say case solved!
Funny thought, but have you tried scanning the holder itself? 😆 And the cards for that matter. I'm honestly really curious how well that would work.
I noticed! I was able to align the circuit board without a problem too. Fantastic work on getting that sorted! This is really exciting 😁
Came here to say that since updating, I am also getting both the striped pattern after some alignment operations as well as trimmed sections undeleting itself.
Finally back on this. Updated my scanner and the first thing I did was try to re-align one of the projects that was previously unalignable. I don't know what you guys did, but I had NONE of the pro...
Seconding what Drew said. You *could* also try the Aesub Transparent spray that will dull the reflectivity but still let some color through. I think that would be your best bet with any scanner, no...
I'm not a MAF dev, but I can answer #4 at least. You can already do this. I've exported the raw scan data and processed with meshlab for a few especially large scans.
@Drew Shark I just saw the latest update! Thank you so so much for that copy scan feature! Looking forward to testing it out 😁
Just a quick update: I'm still alive, but life stuff happened and I had to step away from my scanning endeavors. Hoping I can get back to this in a couple months!
Looking good. Are you using the noise reduction option when scanning? I've tried using it at different levels, but I've honestly found I get the best/smoothest results when I just leave it cranked ...
It's been a busy couple weeks, but I managed to add a few more parts.Internal rocker switch mechanism for drive direction.Internal battery.Internal circuit board. This one I had to do some post-pro...
Hey guys, I figured I'd start a running thread for this project and update it every time I complete a new scan. My dad gave me an old electric screwdriver that no longer worked so I figured I'd tak...
@Tom Meeks Haha no problem! I have been busy with work for the past week and haven't had time to do much scanning in that time, but I have more objects lined up when things cool down again!
It took me a long time, but I finally figured out how to get a thin object to align correctly. ICP alignment is notoriously plagued with dominant plane matching. Meaning if there is a planar surfac...
