That's super nice use case for many users. Scanning old things which are no longer produced. For this scan the texture quality is quite important and you should definetely try the HDR method and u...
Happy New Year. I have been slowly moving along with the API and I have a question about Descriptors/Settings/Camera I have implemented SetCameras and I have been able to independently set Analog...
Roly-Poly tins were popular in the 1900's as tobacco and candy containers. In terms of being a source for a 3D scan they have a lot of issues. The primary issue for most 3D scanners I t...
After some further testing i come to conlusion that HDR is absolutely mandatory for high quality texture capturing with MAF3 cameras. This is valid also when using additional external lights (e.g. ...
I am going to second a look at this potential solution to reflection of models for which scanning spray is just not appropriate. I have a collection of tobacco tins from the 1950's that will ...
A final note in this thread. While Meshmixer is not my favorite 3D application, it has one easy to use and important functionality for anyone doing 3D scanning. That is selection smoothing.&...
@ forum admins: please delete this thread. it's duplicated. unfortunately i could not find way to delete this topic creation on my own.
I have done some basic testing using cross polarization with MAF3. I am using this for photogrammetry and to me this is the holy grail to get outstanding texture quality. Cross polarization requi...
As a first step MAF3 should be improved by updating the software. It will be great for existing users and also make the device much more attractive for new customers. To improve texture quality fr...
I think I have worked with Moment of Inspiration scanners for almost a decade. If any team listen's more to their base, I can't think of one. But, development is necessarilly iteritive,...
Thanks Tom for your feedback! I have also tested with external light but also here the low dynamic range of the cameras does not allow to find one good exposure setting for light and bright areas....
Nice work! As someone with a professional photo/video background, I am happy to see this post. While we have to remember that the cameras used in 3D scanners are video oriented, rat...
This is a screen capture of the Ring Staging system in use. Note that I replaced the rocker base for a pivot ball system that was less intrusive for the THREE scanner. Also, note the nu...
When I started this ring staging project, I set a goal of creating a copy of the 3D printed "ring" using the THREE scanner that was functionally exact in size and shape. I realized that the s...
I got my hands on MAF3 scanner view days ago. It's really extremely easy to use the scanner. However i am missing some advanced features which would boost the device performance to get much more ...
I continue to optimize the design of the ring staging system. But, I have already proved to myself that this has been a worthwile project that is returning excellent results. The initia...
Hi Paul, There is no documentation on those, by design, as they are present for computer vision research and require extensive education in computer vision. There is no documentation we could writ...
@Rob M, they are separate and you can leave Digital gain at it's minimal value. Analog Gain will give better results over Digital gain if needed.
Hi, there are many options under Scan Settings such as normal estimation, adaptive sampling etc.. Where can I find an explanation for all these settings ? 2.14.0.0
